Use Fingerprint with ChatGPT

Remember what you like, use it again, and keep your preferences current.

Availability

Fingerprint is being prepared for the ChatGPT directory and is not yet published. The steps below describe testing through ChatGPT developer mode where available.

What Fingerprint remembers

A durable record of your personal preferences, derived from what you tell your connected AI. Remember a preference, retrieve it in a later conversation, correct it when it changes, or ask to forget it. The website and connected tools use the same current record.

This does not automatically synchronize ChatGPT’s built-in memory or collect full conversations.

Connect

  1. Sign in to Fingerprint with an email link.
  2. Choose Connect an AI. Enable read-only access or allow saves, corrections, and deletions. This grants access to the entire preference record, including future entries.
  3. In ChatGPT’s developer-mode app setup, use https://projectfingerprint.com/mcp/companion as the MCP server URL with OAuth authentication.
  4. Sign in to Fingerprint when prompted. Select your connection and approve its permissions, then return to ChatGPT.

Try it

  • “Remember that I prefer quiet restaurants.”
  • “What dining preferences have I saved in Fingerprint?”
  • “Update my dining preference: busy is fine outdoors, but I prefer quiet indoors.”
  • “Forget my restaurant atmosphere preference.”

ChatGPT derives a key such as dining.atmosphere and saves the value with your supporting statement. It should search for an existing key before creating another and preserve any conditions you give. Inferred preferences should be marked as inferred and saved only if you agree.

Know what was saved

A successful save is stored immediately, even when this website is closed. Open your preference record to inspect its value and source, edit it, export it, or forget it. If a correction conflicts with a newer revision, read the current preference and try the correction again.

Troubleshooting

If nothing matches, search by a short topic or list the record. If saving is unavailable, check that you enabled save access and authorized that permission. If access expired or was revoked, reconnect. Your existing private profile and taste map are separate and are not automatically imported into this record.

Disconnect

Open your preference record and choose Disconnect beside the connection. This stops future access; it cannot recall information the AI already received. See Privacy, Data deletion, and Support.
